Modern Spanish

Mar Vista, Los Angeles

Working closely with my client, the landscape design moved the indoors out and design elements from inside the home were brought outdoors. The landscape was transformed to a Modern Spanish style from the curb to the backyard. The design includes rectilinear and free form lines. The path tile is from Artillo, San Felipe pattern in Cotto Dark blending Old World and Modern. A low stucco wall was added to delineate the front yard and serves to create a transitional space to the residence entry. The driveway design was created using a geometric pattern with artificial turf which was also used in the front, side yard courtyard and backyard eliminating water usage. Artificial turf is permeable, rain water percolates down and stays on the property, no runoff! Low water plants were selected and an efficient drip irrigation system was installed.

Radius planters by the front door are from West Elm
